OK, Hours of searching for Socket 7 board for
K6-2/500 is coming up empty. I see Tom's Guide
recommends Asus and Abit so I am hoping for an
Asus P55T2P4 or Abit IT5H, is there any source
anyone can direct me to. Been through Google,
Pricewatch, Nextag, all the legacy board links I
can dig up...HELP :)

I've got an old one with a K62 500 sitting in it. It was my very first rig. The floppy controller doesn't work, but heck, throw me an offer. I'll dig it up tomorrow afternoon and get all the details - manufacturer, make, etc.

I would recommend a P5A, you can find them on e-bay. Like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2725580953&category=4615

But they tend to be the most expensive super7 mobo out there, but it is well warranted. They overclock very nicely.

Water cooling is for the weak. Get liquid nitrogen.

reb, Thanks, but if you think the floppy header is
damaged I would rather you not take the time to
dig it out and waste time. If you think it is just
needing the controller driver installed, yes I would be
interested for about $10 since it may be failing as
a whole. That is all I would risk, thanks reb

Oh, you do know that Super7 and Super Socket 7 are the same thing, and that they ALL support K6-2 up to 550 and K6-3 up to 450. Then of course higher after overclocking.

Water cooling is for the weak. Get liquid nitrogen.

get it plan to push the clock to 600 per THGuide says
is possible. Cool Rick

If you can't find the ASUS board, then you can look for Gigabyte GA-5AA. I've used this board for 2 years. Before dying after 2 year use, this board did a good job for me

Thank you, It looks like I got the bid at ebay for the
P5A-B. If it is a flop I will hunt down the Gigabyte
you recommend. thanks Rick
