I have currently 512MB of RAM installed. The task manager say 574 MB is in use. So a few megs must be put on my harddrive, right?
But then I start to calculate how much memory all my processes takes and thats only about 180 MB.
What is using all my memory then and how can I see the really amount used?

You might want to click on your task manager then view->select columns, then select the virtual memory size. Then click OK. Now calculate the total memory usage plus the virtual memory usage.

P4 1.7Ghz @ 2GHz, 512MB PC800 RDRAM, 64MB Abit Ti4200, 60GB Maxtor, 120GB Western Digital, 48x24x42 TDK CDRW, 16X ASUS DVDROM, SB! live 5.1DE, Lifeview 3000 TV card

Well. Now I have done so and if I add that amount it is even smaller...
Does the task manager really show all processes?
