I recently lost function of my joystick© My gameport reports "functioning properly" in device manager, but when I use control panel to identify/load my joystick, it continuously reports "not connected"© I had a functioning joystick that stopped being recognized by a game I was playing ¥and had been playing for weeks¤ and the game would not run without a joystick© I checked my js in the control panel, and everytime I accessed the js program it immediately flashed "not connected" then changed to "ok"© I removed it ¥from js under control panel¤ then reloaded it© Since that time, it now only displays "not connected"© I use a logitech wingman d3d© NOW WHAT???

Try reinstalling the driver, if that dosent work, you may want to test the joystick on another pc

Sounds a little like a bent pin on the connector, or bad contact. You might also have an open/broken wire on the cord. You might get an old toothbrush and some isopropyl and clean off the connectors. If you crack open the joystick, you can use a multimeter or continuity tester to check the wires.

It's too bad they don't make the firebird2 anymore......

I'd have thought you would be more bothered about why your full-stops are printed as (C) symbols and weird upside-down stick-men instead of err... some other symbol.

Sorry...off topic.

The joystick worked for everything except the x-wing alliance game. It existed in the control panel "joystick" folder and it functioned properly and could be calibrated. I removed and reloaded the drivers and that is when it kept displaying "not connected" in the control panel joystick folder.
