Just wondering what the difference is between these two chipsets, as the specs are very similar.
From the little info I've found, it seems that the i865 Springdale is the mainstream and the i875 Canterwood is the high-end. But what makes the i875 better?
Anybody know?

AFAIK, they are very similar. Canterwood (875) has Intel Performance Acceleration Technology (PAT) and Springdale (865) doesn't.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.

The i875 is (because of PAT) supposed to be 3-5% faster than i865...

Actually, i865 hasn´t been widely reviewed yet, so there´s no way to be really sure, but I don´t think there´ll be much of a difference there... Canterwood will just be a tad faster. For a price.
