Windows 7 stalls on black screen while booting

Hello,
i burned an iso image of win 7 ultimate using ultra iso on a dvd . when i attempt to boot from the dvd to perform a clean install , the screen just stalls on black with a blinking cursor . what should i do ? should i wait for 30 minutes . any help is appreciated

could be a SATA controller issue.
try to put your HDD on a different SATA on the mainboard and remove other PCI SATA cards you may have.

i encountered a similar issue with a Biostar 8200 mainboard that had 3 SATA disks on it.
had to remove 1 HDD and place the other 2 on other ports. i was not using RAID.

if it helps, check out any bios update for your mainboard.

otherwise check bios settings for boot sequence or test your win7 disc on another pc to exclude any writing errors or image errors.

i have the cd/dvd drive as the first boot device on the bios settings . ya this dvd does the same thing on other laptops too . should i try to burn a new one

if the dvd does the same on other pc, then try to burn another at a lower speed.

before however, try mounting the image you have on a virtual drive to see if it works.

use for example:

http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html

or

http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/home

if the image works, then it must be the disc...
