i have a problem starting Gears of War, when i clicked on Startup, it just goes to the welcome screen and then goes back to the Desktop without any error msgs. . .can anyone help me out with this problem ??? tnx!!

Lower the resolution the game is set on, it might be too high, and if it is too high it would automatically cause the game to drop to Windows. Most games are different on how you change this in folders, so I don't know how to do it. Your best bet is to search the internet and find out how to manually change the game resolution, or reset the game settings to default.

Are you sure you dont get any error message?
The game contains a certificate file which expired at the end of Febuary 09 which stops it running if you install after this date. So set your system date to before end of Feb, install the game. It should then run. Once it has run successfully you can then revert your date back to the correct date.
There has still not been any patch or fix released for this problem, which is shocking from the software developers. Reports are that PC game sales are falling, well they are not helping themselves are they with this level of service?

Yes ppb642 i have dont get any error messages. When i tried checking on the Event Viewer there were no error msgs there. I have already installed the latest patch but still it did not fix the issue. I only have a Windows XP Black Edition, does this affect the game? I was able to run it before with Windows Vista without any error msg but when i downgraded to Windows XP Black Edition. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the game 10 times already but still the same problem. . .need help for this badly! Tnx !

Hi Puffdave.
have a look at this.

That is the only thing i can think of that could be wrong. There is no reason why it should not run on your version of XP. Slight ammendment to what i suggested. The certificate expired at the end of Jan 09 so try setting your date to before 27 January 09, install the game and see if it will run.
