I am considering this setup, Athalon XP 2500 333FSB Barton with MSI K7N2 Delta-L motherboard and Kingston KVR333X64C25/512 512MB 32x64 PC2700 DDR RAM. Will this work? Are there any problems with it? Should I get the Athalon XP Barton chip or a AMD Athalon XP 2400 Thoroughbred? Please advise.

Thank you,

With that MB, or any NForce MB, you should get 2x256MB memory to use the dual channel DDR. And I'd recomend something that is CAS2 if you can afford it. If you are planning to OC I'd recomend PC3200. Besides that eveything else looks good.

I am planning to get another 512MB chip when I get paid next. So it would only be a couple of weeks before I had two 512MB chips. Would that be all right?

What is CAS2?

I am not planning to overclock. Would you recommend I get PC2700 then?

Thank you,

Furthermore, should I get the AMD Barton chip or the regular Athalon XP?

CAS2 is the latency of the memory (lower the better).
What you are getting is CAS 2.5. Kingston HyperX is CAS2 and so is Corsairs XMS Series. If you are planning on getting another 512 the thats fine to use 1 for a bit, tho depending on what your doing it maybe overkill to get 1GB.
If you are not OC'ing then PC2700 is fine.

Get Athlon XP 2800+ Thoroughbred-B if you can afford it. But it is always better to get 2500+ Barton over 2400+ Thoroughbred-B.
And MSI makes good nForce2 mobo.
