Hello,
after upgrading from XP family to XP pro, I lost the sound. In the device
manager "multimedia controller" is with a yellow question mark. desinstall,
updating the driver doesn't change anything. I don't have the cd for the
mother board. my mother board is a gigabyte GA-8S648FXM + onboard sound.
I got the latest drivers from
http://global.giga-byte.com/Mother [...] 648FXM.htm Nothing is happening. Any ideas?
Thanks fou your help

Laurent,
When you did an update driver, and using the Audio driver downloaded from
that link, did it say "Hardware Has been successfully installed"? Or what
did you see?

Laurent,
Then when you install the Audio driver, did you see the status bar changes
from Creating a backup --> Updating driver/installing drivers (I have
forgotten the exact wordings, but something similar)?

Any change after you reboot?
You might also try deleting the device in the device manager and then
rebooting. When you start up you should see the device detection balloons.
When the wizard appears you will have to point the device driver
installation wizard to the location of the downloaded drover files again.
