multimedia controller out of order

Hello,
after upgrading from XP family to XP pro, I lost the sound. In the device
manager "multimedia controller" is with a yellow question mark. desinstall,
updating the driver doesn't change anything. I don't have the cd for the
mother board. my mother board is a gigabyte GA-8S648FXM + onboard sound.
I got the latest drivers from
http://global.giga-byte.com/Mother [...] 648FXM.htm
Nothing is happening. Any ideas?
