Who says an A7N8X rev 1.x wont go 200+FSB...
I just tried out 200FSB on my little 1700+(B), A7n8x and PC2700ddr ... and it didnt even hesitate, except it came up showing 199. So I tried 205, and wow...
Sandra mem of 3167, FSB 205/410DDR, and Sandra Preformance Rating of 2989!!!
Total 2050Mhz, it came up just poping those screens, not waitin on nothing... like KickinButt and Takin Names - Yowsa!!!

I did set the multiplier back to 10, and my pc2700 memory to "Optinal" allowing the mem to auto set iteslf to CAS 3. I also lost the vidio after a few minutes( it hung with a colorbust garbage screen so it's probable the vid card), so I set the AGP Freq to 66 instaed of auto and all problems went away... But heats goin up to ~50C from its normal of 44C at 12*166.

Like who knows how fast will these little 1700+B's will go an an a7n8x?
But one things for sure, A7n8x rev 1.x and 200/400FSB+ is no Problem!
And this fast FSB sure makes normal Windows stuff literally pop right along...

You may want to check out the new BIOS (ver. 1004) for your board on ASUS' site. It now "officially" supports 400 MHz FSB (200MHz core clock) without the previous stability issues (which is apparently what kept them from supporting it earlier).

Just a comment. The highest FSB value in BIOS is 233MHz, which I believe lower than PCB rev2.0 300MHz.

It is morally wrong to allow suckers to keep their money

Oooh. That would explain a little bit. Apparently they (ASUS) were able to tweak the BIOS juuuust enough to get the 1.xx boards to finally run stable at 200MHz, but not much more. I'm sure the 2.xx boards probably have some kind of hardware upgrade (different capacitors, chipset upgrades, etc.) to allow them to run a little faster. Thanks for the info THK.

Oooh and Ouch is right! I better quit flirtin with disaster...
At 212 I lost my user profile with a corupted profile at logon, and got wacked by a hard lockup and dammaged data. Took a couple hours readin about user profile recovery, and ya know, ya cant recover! M$ KnowledgeBAse just says logon as Admin, delete the userid folder in douments and settings, logon as the user and rebuild the profile from scratch. Ouch! and I'm probably lucky at that.

I ougtha put that in the dangers of overclockin thread. Ya can whack good data on disk before ya even know it!!!
But hey, 200+fsb is flatout fast with any multiplier!
Am backin of before loosin the whole ballgame, but i think these rev 1.x's will run 200fsb with memory and processors that are made for 200... I'm askin a whole lot of a little 1700+ and pc2700 memory.
