I don't have alot of xp. with computers, but was wondering would I be able to run ASUS:A7N8X DELUXE motherboard with an Athlon XP 1.7 and 512 of DDR pc2700?

Yes! But judging from your question, I don't think that you should go, buy the components and built a system all by yourself. Maybe asking a friend to help you would be a good idea, at least until you get some experience with computers.
