Folks,
I have just purchased an Asus P4S8X-X motherboard from my local shop, and it says that it supports Hyperthreading processors. My first question is this:
I thought that HT processors ran at 800mhz FSB, but the motherboard only states that is supports 400/533mhz. The way to enable HT support is by putting an HT processor in the motherboard, and then enabling a BIOS setting. Is this true HT support, or just a BIOS frig? Will I see the full benefits of HT?
My second question is, would it be better to plumb for a 2.533Ghz P4 N/W or a 2.4Ghz with HT? They are both the sam price, give or take a few quid so I really have no idea. I guess if the 2.533 is a better option, the first question is pretty much irrelevant, but I would still be intersted to know!
TIA,
James.
