Since upping my RAM to 512 (and getting the message to re-insert my Office
CD) I am finding that Explorer is hanging for about a minute (usually). It
also occurs when a web site wants to open another window.

Try running the system with only the new memory card and see if it operates
properly.

I did - both just the new and just the original were ok. I have just made a
disc from the Microsoft Crash site to test my memory. I am suspecting a
virus - I got some and cleaned them off a couple of days ago.

Office, Pinacle and others work fine.

John,

http://www.memtest86.com/

Please do a check on your RAM and see if it is faulty.

Let us know the result!

This looks a bit daunting to load - anything easier?

PC Pitstop and Everest report it as 512.

All my Office programmes, Outlook Express and others are fine. My Computer
and Explorer seem to be the main problems.

I have just noticed that the drive icons in My Computer have lost their
titles (eg. "C" etc in Thumbnails view) I am sure they used to be there.
