going to be upgrading...basically replacing, my current system. new case, mobo, cpu and memory. I put together an athlon system and pentium system with newegg. Just wondering if anyone has any comments on the two systems. Right now i'm leaning with the intel system. And i havent decided if i'll go with a 2.4 or 2.6ghz intel cpu. here's the two systems:

And the intel is only $50 more! That ram is great for the amd, but may not work so well in the intel. You should get this confirmed but i believe the intel should have matched pairs of ram, and likes a little higher latancy.

i do have matched pairs. I have (2) 256 megs sticks. and why would it want higher latency? Higher latency = slower memory. I actually specifically looked for memory with lower latency. are you sure about that?

what the poster is referring to is the problem the 875 chipset is currently having with low latency RAM. If you purchase low latency RAM, no big deal. If you have problems you can run it higher until the BIOS update is released with the fix.

It's always the one thing you never suspected.

actually, i was going to get the mobo with the 865pe chipset. I didnt think there was much of a performance boost with the newer chipset. And it cost an extra $40 or so. any reason to get the 875?
