NUM PAD PROBLEM

Before a user logs in the num pad will generate numbers while the num lock is
on. After he logs on the num pad will move the cursor instead of numbers. Can
someone help me with the setting that got changed? I am not sure which it is.

I tried this, rebooted and still have the same problem. I don't know what it
is. Thanks for your input.

Next place to look assuming we're on the same page with something sticking
being the problem, would be to trace the electrical connection to the source.
Get a flashlight and see if there's not some corrosion on the contacts that
plug into the machine on the plug or the receptacle.

The receptacle would be 1st choice since you did say you replaced the keyboard.
Next would be a loose connection. Dropped or pulled the keyboard out hard
enough to twist something lately ?
See if there's a bent pin or jammed. Inside the machine, wiggle [reseat] some
connections and see if that doesn't accomplish something if nothing, then get a
GOOD tech with equipment to check the machines internals.

Any of the reseat options would make sense if you've moved anything lately.
These also sound like something with accessibility. That was the 1st problem I
had with XP pro. Some portions of accessibility were ON by default after
installing XP pro. I just had to leave my hand on the shift key too long and
the machine suddenly had a mind of it's own screwing up everything.

Depending on another reply if it's the numlock that's your problem. You can set
that to on or off when booting the machine. Think you hit F8 when booting and
it takes you to some config screens. you'll see NUMLOCK on-off on one of the
pages of settings.

Is NUMLOCK still active when they're logged on? If no, have the user press
that button and log off. The active state for NUMLOCK should exist in
subsequent sessions. If someone toggles it off and then logs off, the
setting will revert to NUMLOCK Off.
