Oblivion- error during the tutorial

I have recently had to restore my computer to factory setting, upon which lost all my data for oblivion. i reinstalled and tried making a new character. it goes through to the point where the wall falls down and you kill the 2 rats that come through, after which when the quest update box shows up closes the program out and brings up an error report. any help???
