Anyone have any suggestions for a good motherboard with RAID, SATA, dual channel DDR, 8x AGP, support for barton core, DDR400 support, and preferably a VIA chipset.

Price isn't of much concern =)

Thanks

Did you enter this forum from www.tomshardware.com, or did you simply fall on your head and roll into here? VIA chipsets have been worthless for some 6 years now, the best chipsets for AMD processors are now made by nVidia.

All boards vary with colour, size, layout etc... but if you want loads of features and the best reliability then Asus is the king - A7N8X Deluxe. However you might want to get a different board based on things like your heatsink. For example if you have your heart set on a Thermalright SLK-900 heatsink then there are only about 2 boards in the whole world that it fits on to without bending capacitors etc (note: slight exaggeration).

Even though I have been an AMD fan over the years purely because of the price / performance ratio, if money iis no object then why not get a P4 3.06 GHz and a super fast P4 board to go with it?? At least the P4 platform won't be redundant in september unlike the current AMD setups which will change completely with a new socket type and different chipsets.

4.77MHz to 4.0GHz in 10 years. Imagine the space year 2020 :)

MSI has a nice line of nForce2 boards, you should pick one based on features. Many people believe these to be better boards than the Asus A7N series (which is probably popular based on brand name alone).

Tom's articles should have been a good start for you. The last one on AMD chipsets was called "Faster and Faster, nForce2: The Latest Boards Put to the Test".

The one before was called "nForce2 Dethroned? VIA's KT400A Chipset Reviewed" in which they concluded that nForce2 was still best (tricky title was used to draw more readers).
