does any one know of a good tv out card? it doesnt need to be 3d or anything fancy, just good quality tv out, svideo preferable. i need a good solution to play my dvd "backups" i was going to use my voodoo3 but it really is not that great, and it doesnt take the whole screen. the tv out function of the nforce would be perfect but i dont have one to test it out, any one tried it?

You're best solution for DVD "Backups" is the Creative DXR DVD hardware decoders, because they have so many screen size adjustments, excellent DVD output, and can be "macrovision disabled" with a simple program called "remote selector".

What's the frequency, Kenneth?

should have been more clear, these are divx files, just needs to dump the screen to the tv. or even some kind of card that has a player that works directly with the card to play the video only out to the tv.

ahhh divx

one would assume then that any card with TV out would suffice.

i have only played with two tv out cards, one is on the voodoo3, its terrible, the picture is all fuzzy, the other was a capture card that had tvout also but the only video that would go out of it was its format, mjpeg i think. could a long cable length have to do with the quality? could the signal degrade that badly propagating only 50 feet?

i finaly found drivers that work with xp and they are far better than the ones from 3dfx in 98! the picture is 100x better! the only problem is when i maximise the video there are dotted vertical lines almost like ghosting, but they are all one color and high contrast to every thing on the screen, they seem to follow to the right of any other vertical line on the screen, what could the problem be? they are there on the monitor and the tv, tried different res, refresh, nothing changes. any ideas?

yes... i would assume that cable is far too long. shorter = better.

and ive no idea what your dots are... could be anything from not displaying/resizing the movie stream properly to interferance on the cable.

turns out i just had to disable overlay. worked better, i still was not satisfied so i dug out a radion i aquired by chance a while ago, its not a very good performer because its pci but the tv out quality over svideo is supurb! it looks great going 50 feet over cat 5 (made the cable myself). minimal diagonal banding, im sure it will go away once i get the computer closer and can use a shorter cable.

I've got 3 cards with TV out and the AIW Radeon is by far the best. I've got a Hollywood dvd decoder which does not apply to this situation. It makes everything a bit blurry/soft but works fine otherwise. I've got and old viper550 tnt card and it works well except that during fast changing sceens thin horizontal lines appear in the moving parts of the screen. Almost all cards have this minor problem. The Radeon is perfect, no lines no problems.

I hope you like yours as much as I like mine:-)
