Ps3 wont load games orplay dvds

my ps3 wont load any games or play any dvds.i never connected it to the net. i got it from a friend he told me that it would freeze sometimes. when i got it i put in army of two it said game data is corrupted.i done the slow system format. it worked for 5 min then froze.now when i try to load a disc it slides in the console spinning icon shows up on tv screen/ but game wont load nor will dvds.every 15 seconds i can hear a noise in the console like its trying to load but it never does.
