my pc crashed so i had to reload everything back on to it, but now my sound
card appears to be switched off, also having trouble with keyboard
configuration, been told it has reverted to usa setting, but dont know how to
change it back.

Hi,
Accessing the BIOS is not the way to resolve this. For the sound, you
probably just need to reload the sound card drivers. This is not normally
done during installation, but afterwards. If your system was preinstalled,
check your supplied disks for an applications disk, or the manufacturer's
web site for the appropriate sound card driver download.
As to the keyboard, go to the control panel/regional and language
options/languages tab, click details. You can change the default keyboard
language here.
