First question: I'm running Corsair Twinx XMS ultra low latency pc3200 DDR400 memory. Should i set the latency times in the bios manually? or let it autodetect... If so.. what should i put for each setting? I know the ram is rated 2-2-2-6-2 Howeever, i dont what each one corresponds to other then clock cycle, like, i dont know which corresponds to which on the bios i guess.
Second: Ive noticed that my system, though blazing fast, is extremely slow when it comes to certian hard drive related projects. Example, updating windows xp using windows update, post download, takes almost 10x as long as it did on my Athalon 1.1ghz running win2000. That seems wayyy off... Another example.. i copried a dvd to my D: (located on the normal ata 100 ide channel) and tried to rip it to my C: using DVD2SCVD (c: is two 15 gig drives striped in a raid0 config, located on the promise card) The rip rated at 3000ish kb/sec. but i remember my previous athalon riupping at closer to 15000 kb/sec. once again, data transfers seem much faster... The only difference is, on the athalon, both sets of drives (D: and C were on the same raid controller. I just turnedon enhanced IDE and 32bit transfers but its still as slow, any ideas of what else could be the reason? Thanks in advance!
