Yesterday I installed the game ''Prototype''. When I started it up, and looked at my frames, it was only 25 fps! and when I stare to the ground, is doesnt go higher than 30. I was really suprised with this result, because i think i have a good gaming pc, look at the specs below:
I saw some movies on the internet, like
He has a q6600 and a 9800gtx, and his fps doesnt go below 35 :S and he plays at 1920x1080, while I playe at 1280x1024 :S
When I put my settings all to ''low'', it doest change my framerate. I was thinking about a frame limititer or something like that, but I cant find anything about that on the internet.
you shouldnt be getting that low fps. I get about 35fps average evereything on high ( bu everything i mean those 2 settings they have to choose) and never below 25fps on an 8800gt and a q6600. Try installing 186.18 drivers ( nvidia just released them)
I got it yesterday too, dont have framerate issues (but im sure its quite an intensive game, due to huge map size and so much going on) but it sure is a fun game chop those new yorkers up with chainfists of death hehe.
This is pissing me off coz i've played a few hours and it looks a great game, I might be expecting too much lol, has anyone had the same issue or offer any help??
This is the craziest thing I have ever seen. I had the same problem and was about to buy a new graphics card, until I stumlbed upon this forum. I was getting 30fps on a 3870x2 and thought it was jsut the card. I disabled the HIDs in device manager and now I get 60 fps. Can anyone explain it.
Thanks a million. you just saved me hundreds of dollars!
go into your sound options and change the quality from whatever it is to 44khz - that seems to solve most people's problems with hitching/slowness in vista games on systems which use integrated audio.
Cheers guys, my game is working really well now, just disabled the first device in the HID list. My only issue is that i have a sound speed up problem now, like im a chipmunk or summit!!?? no luck with changing my sound quality like suggested. any ideas??
I have a problem with Prototype when the fps go higher that 60 I get stuttering(the game is like 20fps but the fraps show 60fps+). I have a GTX295 for 6 months and I have never experiences stuttering before in any game. Prototype doesn’t support sli yet, so obviously I get the speed of a GTX260OC. My drivers are 182.06

I'm having crappy low fps issues as well. Mostly the game runs at 40-50 fps and at some points even drops to around 30 fps. I run the game at 1920 x 1200, 4 AA, All graphics set to high. Interesting thing is, it doesn't seem to help lowering the resolution or texture details, it keeps stuttering with frames of 50...This is quite annoying.
My currents specs are:
585 Watt Gigabyte ODIN PSU
MSI Geforce gtx 275
Amd phenom 9600 Black Ed. 2.3 Quad core ( OC'd to 2.6 GhZ)
K9A2 Platinum MSI Motherboard
2 x 2 Kingston 1066 Hyper X RAM
I thought my GPU would at least be able to push out frames of well above 60 fps. I find it quite annoying that my gpu gets like 70-80 fps in Prototype on some Benchmarking sites, but when you try it yourself, you get grossly dissapointed.
If anyone has any suggestions for me, I'm all ears

Prototype is a very CPU intensive game. Tom's did an article about it. It could be that your CPU isn't up to par as it is a Phenom I and not a Phenom II. but 40-50 fps seems fine, since anything above 30fps is very playable.
Okay, I'm at my device manager now, but I have no idea what I can disable, and what I cannot disable.
Can anyone help me out here? Cuz I'm pretty sure some stuff there is vital for my pc...
