Cursor "auto-click"

I just purchased a new notebook, and it came with the annlying functionality
of automatically activating a button if the cursor rests on it long enough.
This is driving me crazy! How do I turn it off (I've tried the mouse menu on
the control panel).?

Check the options in the touch pad software. Usually there is bundled
software for the touch pad. Or it could just be that when you go to use the
touch pad your "tapping" it and the touch pad interprets that into a click?

Tried going through the control panel to the mouse options, but the only
changeable option that might have applied is the clicklock . No effect,
either enabled or disabled.

It happens, after a short delay, when my hands are nowhere near the keyboard
or touchpad.

Sorry. It's a Toshiba Satellite M45-S331, running Windows XP Home edition,
Version 2002, SP2.

I have the same problem with my Dell Latitude D60, running XP Pro. Cursor
pauses on something, computer considers it a "double click"
