I just set up the following system:
2.8C P4 w/ Intel boxed heatsink and fan.
Asus P4P800 motherboard
2 x 256 MB Kingston HyperX PC 3500 DDRAM
Western Digital 80 GB Special Edition Caviar HDD
IBM Deskstar 40 GB HDD (7200 rpm, 2 MB cache, about 2 years old)
MSI Ti 4200-8x 128 MB Video Card
TDK 40x 16x 32x CD-RW
This system is in an Antec Lanboy case w/ 350 SmartPower PSU
I also am running two Vantec case fans, 1 temp controlled fan, the other the UV Spectrum LED fan.
I am using the the ASUS Probe program that came with the ASUS mobo, and the temperatures it reports for my CPU is only 4 C! The motherboard temp is reported as 33 C.
The CPU temp was reported as about 30 C, until I installed Motherboard Monitor. During the setup of that program, things got crazy. My temps were reported as high as 127 C, and then they went down to 4 C. What can I do to fix this? I know the CPU temp shouldn't be lower than the mobo temp.
Can anyone help?
That isn't the problem. I think the problem is with the PC Probe program that came with the Asus motherboard. In the BIOS the CPU temp is listed as about 41 C, and the motherboard in the low 30s C. Does anyone know how to change what the PC Probe program reads as the CPU temp?
make sure your not using 2 monitoring programs at the same time , your results will be out of whack
As far as MBM , ALex doesn't have your m/board listed yet for sensor ID , try the forum there for proper set-up
if not un-install all monitoring programs , re-install only probe and report back
After un-installing MBM and Asus PC Probe, I re-installed Asus PC Probe. During the setup and installation, where I set the temp warning values,
the program listed my CPU temp as about 41, and motherboard as 38. Then as soon as the program started running, the CPU temp dropped down to 34,
with the motherboard temp staying at 38.
