From Bobby Kotick of Activision.

“I'm getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don't make it easy for me to support the platform. It's expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better. Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation,” he says.

“They have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates [the number of games each console owner buys] are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony.” Ask when and he says: “When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support the console — and the PSP [portable] too.”

*This is a "those in glass houses..." sort of post directed at those who think consoles are untouchable and PC games are dying. Sarcasm just doesn't get translated in forums... :sarcastic:

I said it a long time ago, "Microsoft considered the console market a threat for the long term and created the X-Box to snuff it out."
Once all the consoles are "put in their place" then the X-Box and PC will become one and we'll be back to the days where titles will be a PC exclusive.
Sony had a chance and still do but they need to make their OS Linux and make it so Linux PC's play their games.

Although I agree with the sentiment the OP expresses, to conclude that the above piece is in anyway demonstrative of the strength of PC gaming rather than an attempt by an industry guff head to goad Sony into reducing development costs, is in my opinion an enormous leap of faith.

But hey, I would like to see consoles go down the drain as much as the next man who enjoys PC games because they're miles better than consoles and always have been.
