This question will no doubt make some of you groan, but...

I bought a new motherboard and it has both an ATX 20-pin power connector and a ATX 12v power connector (4-pin?).

Do I connect both, or just one?

The manual explains that the 20-pin allows connection to an ATX power supply and that the 12v supplies power to the CPU, but it neglects to state whether both are required.

Every board I've used in the past only had a 20-pin connector.

Please help!

Thanks for that. So what is the point of the 12v connector?

It supplies "cleaner" voltage to the cpu, as the 12v rail from the atx 20pin has other things sucking it down. Thats pretty much all.
