I am wanting to build my own computer. I have read the reviews here. I would like advice on motherboard compatibilites. I have some questions.

1. Processor- want a Pentium 4 800FSB, just which: 2.8 or 3.0??

2. Motherboard - whats the best performing motherboard for the above chip? I won't be doing any overclocking. What brand and model?

3. Memory - Read about corsair and kingston. Would like to get the best i can afford. Would like to get two 512's.
Which memory performs the best? Which is compatible with the motherboard you all will suggest?

Jazzing all the way!

"1. 2.8C, 2. Abit IS7, 3. Corsair pc3500"

Lazy I am at that.

1) 3.0 or 2.8, Will there be a difference going with the 2.8C ?

2.) What is the difference with the Abit boards in this series?
The Abit IS7, Abit IS7-G, Abit IS7-E, besides price? Don't matter to me which one, pricewise.

3) Corsair memory, that being the XMS series?
( at Newegg: CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series 512MB 32MX8 PC-3500C2 With Heat Spreader )

1. 3.0 is slightly faster than the 2.8 but costs more. I reccomend the 2.8 because it is better price/performance. If you got money out the yang get the 3.0

2. Comparison chart
Because your lazy and I'm nice I'll just tell you: Over the IS7-E, the IS7 adds Firewire (2+1 ports) and RAID-0 support to your serial ATA, in addition to that the IS7-G adds Gigabit LAN and 2 more serial ATA hook ups with RAID 0 and 1 support.

3. Yes, there is also a "Platinum" Heat Spreader version... they are exactly the same except for looks.
