I am running windows XP and receive an error message when i try to reinstall FSX 'Installation forbidden by system policy contact administrator'
I am the administrator and have reinstalled many times before without a problem, I cannot find any way to disable this policy in XP home, or to edit the registry to disable it. Any ideas would be much appreciated. I am the only user of this computer so disabling the policy seems to be the best solution.

Cheers Mike

Hi

If you want to see FSX at its best you need to install a few add ons, Scenery and terrain improvements and in particular programs like Traffic X add a huge amount of interest to the programm by filling the sky and the airports with planes.
You seem to have or are planning to have a reasonable AMD system but you will not be able to run FSX at maximum settings with the sort of add ons that I mentioned.
My system is based on an AMD Phenom ii x4 940 3Ghzx4 which is one of the top 3 AMD processors, my Graphics card is a little slower than yours an 8800GT, other bits are more or less similar. I can achieve 30 frames ps with almost every setting at max, but at major airports with my Traffic X set to 100%, which means every gate has an aircraft so its very busy it still slows down to 10 to 15 fps. It is the most demanding programme I have ever had and I would recommend that if you can find a little more money get AMD Phenom ii 910, 940, 945 or 955. You will not be disappointed then. Your AMD Athlon X2 just scrapes into last place on the chart, check this

Hi

That sounds very good to me, you should be able to bang your settings right up and get the full benefit of what is a very good flight sim, I recommend Traffic X from just flight to add thousands of flights and some terrain improving software such as FS Global and VFR real scenery all make for a more realistic experience, good luck
