ok, looked around on Toms Guides and didnt find too much...mostly older stuff...

question is...

Newer higher end mobo's are comming with SATA onboard...are these controllers (ie promise is what im looking at) are they bridged? or are they TRUE SATA?

i know from the guide that bridged just isnt worth it. but if its NOT then its better to invest a lil extra for a mobo that isnt already obsolete ya kno?

OSI, ISO, ITU-T, IETF, IEEE, WEP, 802.1X IPSec, ISAKMP, ATM, FR, 802.3, X.25, 802.11, 802.5, MPLS, RIP, OSPF...
Welcome to the acronym industry.

heya Cave;

There is a couple month old article here on Toms that deals with the Onboard SATA controllers, its in relation to the intel 7205 chipset boards, specifically with the ASUS P4G8X-Deluxe with onboard SATA, it uses a Promise controller, they gave it good reviews, while some other intergrated SATA controller brands didnt fare so well, so go check it out, you will find your answers there.

I hope i have helped.
