does anyone know if the Asus P4G8X will allow the FSB to be clocked over 200MHz? i have read conflicting articles here and there, and would be honestly suprised if it was so limited. my old Gigabyte GA-8IEXP allow FSB up to 355MHz, but i want something dual channel that won't break me. thanx

What smells?

heya Ferguson;

I know for a fact the P4G8X-Deluxe will run the new P4c, infact it has overclock settings to go clear up to 400x4 in one step intervals, as far as the standard p4g8x goes, even though the bios allows you to set it at 200x4 MAX i cant tell you for sure if it will actually run at that speed, im guessing yes, as it is uses the same components as the deluxe except without all the extra onboard bells and whistles such as Firewire and GLan etc.

I hope this helps

For what you are trying to do, you should pick a motherboard with the springdale chipset. Asus P4P800 or Abit IS7, for example.

both the P4P800 and IS7 are more expensive than what i can get the P4G8X DELUXE for, and give little perfomance increase. plus they both put the frigging IDE connectors on the edge and turned them out! why are mobo manufacturers doing this! that connector becomes unusable once the board is mounted in my case. i refuse to buy a board that has these type of connections.

yes yes yes

your p4g8x-deluxe will run the new p4c.
you will have to force your agp/pci frequencies to 66/33 for it to be stable, but thats it.
