hey everyone i'm having problems running GTA4. When I try to play it gives me this error

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.

And this is what is from the application log

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Users\dylan\Downloads\GTAIV\Grand Theft Auto IV\GTAIV.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.ATL,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 64-bit. thanks

now this is odd, because it is not a gta 4 error, it is an error within windows. It's actually quite common, and happens with many other games than gta.

please try downloading the microsoft C++ redist. or, going into gta's folder or explore the cd and find vcredist.exe and install it. If this doesnt work, try moving the folder somewhere else.
