Nice. I'm considering doing a new intel build and have been looking at microcenter as an option. I was thinking about spending 99 dollars on the i3 2100 and another 100 dollars on a motherboard but it looks like i could get a better deal with microcenter. Do you think I could get a good i3 + motherboard combo for cheap?

Yeah. Sure. You don't get a discount with i3 though. Try and get that extra $20 for the i5 and buy a $100 P67 mobo.
