I have win 7 ultimate 64 bit with Win Essentials, tried to install AVG 9 free edition but says there is conflict.
Can anybody recommend which is better?

I have used Avira for almost a year and am quite happy with it. Microsoft Security Essentials also gets high ratings as does Avast. They are all free.

I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials for quite some time and it's pretty good.

No question, I'd go with Microsoft Security Essentials over AVG. Avast and Avira are also good options.
