No idea. Seems like there ought to be some penalties, though, for enabling PAT on i865 systems. This should be studied... Why do you want to know about Aopen in particular Cornell?

There's nothing worse than a computer discussion gone personal...

I guess THG has studied it a bit: http://www17.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20030603/865_PAT-20.html

I figure the 865 has become a good deal for a mobo now. I have had good personal experience with Asus and a friends' have complimented Abit, but the reason I'm also considering Aopen is their SilentTek/SilentBios software fan control.

Silentpcreview.com has a review of the software: http://www.silentpcreview.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=64&page=1

I'm a big fan of quiet PC's and so far I've been using undervolted Panasonic Panaflo's with a fan controller that measures temperatures and controls fan voltage with pot's. It works OK, but I'd like the convenience of a software program to adjust fan settings depending on usage.

It turns out that the AX4SPE does have PAT enabled. Thanks to those who posted links to VR Zones roundup of 865PE mobo's with PAT enabled.

Unfortunately, according to the roundup the AX4SPE doesn't do as well as the others according to the conclusion but said there could be some "tweaks". I wonder if that means user tweaks or official tweaks from Aopen?
