I can get on any internet site; but when I try to go inside the website I get
the message " this page cannot be displayed" I can't get into any secure
areas. I get that error message every time.

I know it's a bit much for a new user, but check your IE settings, if that's correct,
register the softpub.dll see if that corrects the problem. If not you may have to do
a bit of reading by looking at the links provided for further suggestions.

In Internet Explorer -
1. Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
2. Scroll down to the Security Settings.
3. Make sure that the two boxes are checked that say
"Enable SSL 2" or "Enable SSL 3".
Try your secure sites.

Another thing you can try is:
Go to start/run
Type in: regsvr32 softpub.dll
Press Enter or click OK

After you upgrade to Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) in

work correctly. Frequently, this behavior is caused by security changes in Windows XP
SP2.
