I am new to xp and laptops. the thing is I want to get set up with a
wireless card and hub. However I noticed that I already have a wireless link
on my used system. Now dows that link help me with the other issues or
not.???

Just want to know what to do first?

You haven't mentioned any issues so have no idea if that link (what link?)
is helpful or not.

Laptops often have wireless, infra-red or bluetooth built-in. The features
may be disabled or are enabled but not configured. Enabling may require
changes in BIOS settings.

Once enabled, the configuration steps depend on the device being installed.
Check manuals on both sides: System manual for info on managing/using
connection hardware. Device manuals for setting up new hardware to use the
available connection hardware. Follow directions to set everything up.

If you do not have a hard copy manual for the laptop (or device) or a
manual on the hard drive or installation CDs, check the manufacturer's
website for manuals you can download. The manufacturer's website may have
additional documentation in their online support library as well.
