You are putting together basically the system I am getting info for. Currently, I have an AMD Athlon 850MHz slot A on an Asus motherboard with Crucial PC133 512mb CL2 running Windows XP. I tried Kingston and Simple Tech and had some problems. A friend who has put together several systems suggested that I try going to various manufacturer websites, like Crucial, Corsair, etc. Most of them have guides to help you choose what will work on your motherboard. Crucial even has live chat. You might even try Asus website to see what they suggest. Be sure, what ever you do, if you go for technical assistance, that you let them know what operating system you are running. Some people are having all sorts of problems with XP and compatibility issues. An if you do run XP, make sure you get at least 512mb. I had 256mb and it was a little frustrating.

I have three suggestions for making sure the RAM you buy is the best performing, yet the most compatible and stable:

1) <A HREF="http://www.crucial.com/" target="_new">Crucial</A>

2) <A HREF="http://www.crucial.com/" target="_new">Micron</A>

3) <A HREF="http://www.crucial.com/" target="_new">Micron</A> or <A HREF="http://www.crucial.com/" target="_new">Crucial</A>

I noticed the www.crucial.com guide states they do not guarantee compatability if you do not select the memory using their guide. I always use their guide even if I am writing down the numbers and buying elsewhere. So far so good.
