Wha..?! how can this be, on both platforms, Intel and AMD, single channel memory controllers perform equal to dual ch mem? I can't find more benchmarks right now but scores for Soltek NV400-64 MB for AMD processors at amdmb.com and also new VIA PT800 chipset scores for Intel at hardocp.com show nonexistent or even higher scores for these single memory channel boards...

So who's cheating who here? What's going on? Are we paying for nothing now if DDR400 can provide enough bandwidth with only single channel and processors (both Athlon and P4)can't use more?

not according to review of FSB400 boards on <A HREF="http://www.xbitlabs.com" target="_new">http://www.xbitlabs.com</A> the ultra 400 is still the fastest in most of their tests...
problem is , people are still running reference boards or early revisions of comercial boards...
the true picture will not be seen until somebody reviews boards that are in the shop for sale...

Trust me I know what I'm doing... ooops, grab the cat...

If you are refering to <A HREF="http://www.amdmb.com/article-display.php?ArticleID=244&PageID=1" target="_new">this article</A>, I just read that today.

Though I am dubious about the results. They were obtained against an Asus A7N8X v2.0. One thing that may make the results more relevant would be to reveal what the actual FSB of the SL-NV400 is while running applications. I know Soltek often overvolts the VCORE by .25, but all the boards I've used have the FSB right in spec (333.37 for my SL-75DRV5)

Must find out. Regardless, I'll be installing two of these (SL-NV400-64L) very soon.

Easy answer, AMD can't take advantage of Dual Channel bandwidth, and VIA simply sux.

This is by far the best article I have found that attempts to explain the discrepancy. Check it out:
