Hi everyone,

Been out of the loop for a while and need some information. Which chipset is best for the P4? The 845, 865 or 875? Im sure the latter two are, and if so what features/imporvements do they have over the older 845? Maybe you can point me to an article that presents a comparison.

Regards,

Bhavik

the 2 main features/improvements are 800Mhz FSB and dual-channel DDR. Also AGP 8X. Plus SATA builtin to the ICH5

The 865/875 chipsets allow for dual channel operation, which offers TWICE the memory bandwidth of single channel such as found on the 845 series chipsets.

So long as you can get one with hyperpath/b.s. pat/whatever on it, the 865 is probally best unless you need giga or scsi. Otherwise, the 875 is probally teh best available chipset presently.
