PC freezing on Red Faction :Guerrilla startup (Steam DD)

Hello all,

Well, the game finally came out. Purchased it off steam last night, and woke up this morning to see it was finished downloading. I played the console version for a little bit and loved it, so I decided to get it for the PC.

So here's the problem:

First time starting the game, it installed the usual directx and visual C++ apps, then goes to a blank screen. Now I figured it would take a min or so because it was a new game bla bla bla. But after sitting for a good 10 minutes, I decided to restart. Get back into windows, try to start it again, and once again it opens the program, the screen goes black and just sits there. I tried to make it run in windowed mode, but it does about the same thing, except I was able to windows key out of the game for a couple seconds, but then windows itself froze.

My Specs:

Gigabyte EP45-UD3P
Intel Core2Duo E7400 Overclocked to 3.8Ghz
2 Sapphire HD Radeon 4870's in crossfire
Coolermaster HAF 932 (Cooling is not a problem here)
8GB DDR2 800
Windows 7 Professional (64 bit Retail Version, MSDN FTW)

This happens when FRAPS is running and not, so that isn't the issue.

And I'm positive my system is in tip top shape. I built it myself about 8 months ago. Every game I have ever played ran flawlessly, so what is up with this one?

So what could be the problem here?
