Nokia 3589i, loose battery problems?

Does anybody here know if the Nokia 3589i suffers from the same loose
battery problems that affected older Nokias? I have a 3285 right now that
turns itself off fairly often now; I think it's due to a loose battery. I'm
eligible for a "free" new phone with the New Every Two program, and since
I've been happy with my last few Nokias (besides this battery issue), I am
leaning torwards the 3589i. If the battery design is still a problem,
though, I may look at other phones.

More generally, does anybody have an opinion as to the best basic phone for
Verizon? I just want a phone with good reception, decent sound, and
durability; I don't need all of the fancy stuff.

Have had the 3589i for little more than 2 months now and so far no
loose battery problems, even after being dropped twice. Also
previously owned the Nokia 3361 and 6590 (each several months to a
year) and never had the loose battery problem with those phones
either.

For a basic phone, I recommend the Nokia 3589i. Good reception - last
weekend it worked in the middle of the Everglades visiting whereas my
friends phones with ATTWS and Nextel would not work (had very few no
signal areas there with my phone). Even at a local national park, my
VZW phone had signal, and my friends VZW phone of another manufacturer
(not sure which) did not. Decent sound - even on 2 bars out of 7
digital signal, 1 bar of seven usuable but not always clear, have not
tried analog. Durable - accidentally dropped on concrete, other than
a scatch or two (if that bothers you, replacement faceplates $15-20
whereas with other manufacturer phones cannot replace yourself), still
works fine for making and receiving calls. Many positive user

One perhaps small negative. Its best not to leave this phone on the
humid bathroom vanity while taking your shower. Compared to other
cell phones, its not as resistant for bathroom humidity (have heard
this commented elsewhere). Did receive crackling noise on calls after
few days doing this, but resolved by drying the internals of the phone
out (what could be accessed by just removing the back phone cover and
battery) with a computer keyboard air duster ($5-10). Now have the
phone hanging on the outside bathroom door knob in a case so can still
hear it if rings then.

Other than that, this phone has the basics covered with very few fancy
features.
