Dawn of Discovery Anno 1404

Hi, I just got the game Dawn of Discovery, and it is fun, except the terrain is black. I can see buildings, trees and units, but no terrain. This makes it difficult because i can't see where hills, shores and other things are, as well as it looks very stupid, and I build this nice computer to play things like this. Some people have been saying to get Catalyst 9.7 (oh and I have an ATi 4870), which I tried, with no results. I have tried everything that I can think of, reducing graphics, restarting computer, reinstalling game. None have worked thus far. Can someone help me?
