I just bought this setup:
Asus A7N8X-X mobo Supports 400mhz fsb and 400mhz DDR
AMD Barton 2500+ Supports 1.8ghz with 333mhz FSB
512mb PC3200 supports 400mhz

My problem is that ever since putting it together and makeing it run My computer is pretty much running at half speed. Effectivly 1.1ghz cpu with 200mhz fsb as well as ram at 200fsb and the motherboard at 200fsb.
Why is this happening? The only thing I can think of is that the power supply is ineffecient but I need someone else to confirm this for me and also explain to me how this is possible. Pretty much every AMD system I've seen uses a 300W power supply and mine is a 330W or 350w (it has both written on the side). The mobo says it requires at least 1A for the +5v and at least 8A for the +12v and mine is 2A for the +5v and 16A for the +12v so as far as I can tell my power is more then enough but yet I still don't know then why my whole computer is running at half speed. In the bios it lets me change the cpu from the current 100mhz to 133, 166 and 200 but it won't let my memory be changed at all and the default setting for my mobo's fsb according to the manual is suppose to be 266/333/400 with 200 requiring a jumper change. But mine seems to be running at effectively 200mhz for everything when it should be no lower then 333 since thats what the cpu is suppose to be.
Anyone able to Help me??

Change the FSB to 166 in the BIOS. That shud set it right.
If u cant change to FSB 166 check if the jumper on the motherboard has been set for 100 FSB.

still thinking of a good siggy. till then...
