In the beginning, after i name my dog, i need to get it to 'notice' me. I don't know how to make it notice me. If you know, could you also mention how many times it must be done?

from past experience you have to regularly remind the dog of its name.... my friends daughter had nintendogs on her DS - and the for the entire 4 weeks I was in australia every morning we would be treated to 20 minuts of "spot" (her choice of dog name)

Not a good game... repetitive... dull... damn right annoying - in my opionion that is

If I recall, you can also tap the screen with the Stylus to get the dog's attention.

Yep, tapping the screen does the job. Once it has learned it's name it will often come when you call it. Whistling sometimes works too.
