Hello,
i am waiting deleviry on a MSI 875PNEO-FIS2R and a maxtor 80 gb 150 sata drive,

i've heard you dont just connect up ,format and use ,could someone please run through step by step what i need to do to get my drive working, This will be the only drive in the pc ,but i'm only used to installing normal drives and i'd like the info before the mobo/drive get here so i dont get stuck halfway through and end up smashing my new (bloody expensive) mobo into many pieces..
Thanks

Adam

You may have to set the BIOS to boot from SCSI, but other than that it should just be connect, format and use.

Also when installing Windows, you may have to install RAID drivers (press F6). Although you'll be using only one drive, you may still need to install them RAID drivers. Those should be bundled along with your mobo, but probably on CD. Windows setup unfortunately only looks in the floppy drive for RAID drivers so you may need to put them onto a floppy.

I don't know about your board but on mine S-ATA HD is just like a reguler HD (at least after i flashed the BIOS). Someone posted here that you might have to boot from SCSI. He meant after you finished installing Windows (for that you boot from the CD) then if you can't boot select SCSI as the boot disk in the BIOS.

Coppermine, Banias, Opteron, Prescott, Barton... How 'bout investing less in the CPU and more in its name?
