is it possible to take out my win xp pro hd install new hd set cdrom to boot
from cd and reinstall win xp home on new hd then swap out drives and put in
xp home as slave to transfer settings and files from pro to home then make
home new master hd or will i have problms ill keep pro hd as a backup

The easiest route would be to remove the old hard drive, then install XPHome
on the new hard drive (as Master). Then reboot and insert the old hard drive
as a slave. This will confuse the dickens out of Windows, but keep cool!

Then move your data and format the old hard drive (to remove the boot
sector) and start over fresh. If you don't remove the boot info on the old
drive, Windows will detect it and this can mess up your system settings.
