FSB/DDR Question

Just got the Asus A7V8X-X, and I'm planning to put in a 333MHz FSB CPU in there. I already got DDR400 memory for it, but in the manual for the motherboard it says "When using 333MHz FSB CPU, system memory supports DDR333 only." Although this is very clear that DDR400 is not supported, will my DDR400 memory module run at DDR300 speed, or won't work at all?
