hey i am throwing a another lan party and am looking for a new game
last time the biggest hit of the ones we played was the halo 1 trial but playing the same halo map over and over got old
however i need a free game b/c there are a couple guys that wont pay for a new game they will only play at the party
so im looking for a free game similar to halo that has more than 1 map

yes but if we wanted to use insurgency we would all need half life 2....or am i wrong about that?

open arena is great for that sort of stuff as literally anyone can play it, desktops, laptops, netbooks, Windows, OSX, Linux...

It is a bit dated now, but its basically a ripoff of QuakeIII Arena.

You might also try Wolfenstien Enemy territory, another older game, but I'm pretty sure its free.
