Need some advices from you guys :)

Right now, im using P4P800 Deluxe with

2 Samsung 256MB PC-3200 DDR400 (total 512), and im thinking

to get more Memory, probably will be 1GB, should i get 2

more 256 pc-3200 DDR400 ( means 4 256MB,) or just get

2 512 MB PC-3200 DDR400?

which setup will run faster? or they are same?

And what brand will you guys recommend?

PS: I dont know why, after upgarde my computer, i got the IE error while i viewing the website, right now im using WinME.

thax for replying! :)

i would recomend a windows nt based operatins system for using more than 512mb of memory...

The performance will be identical between the 4x 256 and 2x 512

3 386DX-25's...12 volts...glue and some ln2 and a wicked amount of overclocking and you get a willamantee minus 36 pins, 33.75 million transistors and a couple hundred mhz...

thax man, i guess i have to get rid of using WinMe,

so it means, even 4x 256 or 2x512, the performance are the same?

Anandtech had the same question, so they tested it. Their board provided the best performance with 4 double-sided modules, second best with 4 single-sided modules, third best with 2 double-sided modules, and fourth best with 2 single sided modules.

i doubt the increase is noticable in anything but benchmarks...i beleive the performance has something to do with the fact that more modules can interprit more requests at the same time...just a guess but i think this is the case on most mobos...more memory chips yeilds slightly higher performance...

But certain mem timings (can't remember exactly which) can be set lower if you have fewer physical modules... so with tweaking, fewer modules might actually perform slightly better....

Anandtech's test showed that the 875 chipset in particular prefers to have more banks occupied. Their best performer was 4 double sided modules at Cas 2.5, beating out 2 double sided modules at Cas 2.

I've never seen anything like that before.
