Does it ever show anything? Does it show all through bootup but then go black when it reaches windows? If so just hit the Fn key + video selection key (the one that looks like 2 monitors, one laptop, one desktop monitor) when it goes black after getting to windows.

If it is black all the time but they system definatly boots (hear xp boot music or something) the ribbon connection to the screen may have come loose. That is usually not user serviceable, you will likely need to either take it somewhere or send it in to be serviced.

That will probably be the best way to go.
