Yeah, I just use cdex. Worked good for me so far... I don't have a burner in this computer so I couldn't backup.
It's really really odd though, because I had a massive crash a few days ago, and the computer was on the fritz for the rest of that day, then it wouldn't boot, then it had no problems at all for a while. Then disk access was SUPER slow, and I noticed it was running in PIO mode instead of UDMA 5, so I did a roll back with XP. Worked great for an hour, then it stalled. The drive didn't register in the POST, so I tried switching cables, controllers, even stuck the drive in a different computer, but it is now hopeless... pooched
If my baby don't love me, I know, I know, her sister will.
damn... i suppose it doesnt even run in PIO anymore. bummer
burners really are the best way for the average joe to backup data.
and as u may have read im in a similar, though less critical boat as my 40Gb 60GXP deathstar is doing what they do best. (die)
bad sectors are popping up like mushrooms.
picked the current crop which didnt affect my OS this time, but its only a matter of time till the next crop appears.

Yeah, I'm probably gonna go WD this time. It's odd cause every manufacturer has had a bad rap at some time. First seagate was crap, then WD sucked, then IBM was the best and maxtor sucked, then all those 75GXPs died, and now it looks as though WD or Maxtor are the way to go. I'm not going Maxtor as they swallowed Quantum, and I just had a quantum drive die... I may actually go seagate.. choices choices.
It's not so bad though cause I get to buy a new system now (gonna have to take it out of the motorcycle fund *sniff*), and it's a good time too cause I'm really getting into 3d animation stuff so I need a good computer.
Prolly go 80 gig WD or seagate drive, XP 1800+, 512 DDR, A7V333, or maybe the MSI KT3 Ultra... no sound card as I'll just use the onboard sound. The real choice is with the video. Do I shell out the $$$ for a GF4 Ti4400, or do I just get a radeon 8500?
If my baby don't love me, I know, I know, her sister will.
yeah... im just a big cheezed cauz this is the first drive to go belly up on me.
my first was a blisteringly hot 5400rpm 2gig seagate. and u know what? its still working today!
second was a IBM 16GP. big capacity but kinda slow and loud.
given that my 60GXP is going http://www.titsup.com its ironic that my 5 year old 16GP has outlasted my 60gxp.
my fourth drive is my maxtor 80Gig D740X. no problems with it yet.
and the next will be the 800JB.
that means i will have used drives from all 4 major companies!

That sucks, about a month ago one of my partitions suddenly disappeared, luckely I could recover most of the data, all my downloads where on that partition.
And some months ago my little 6GB Seagate drive stopped working with all my MP3s and documents, etc on it, luckely I backed it up on another drive, and guess what when I plugged the drive back in 2 weeks later it started working again...very weird.
But yes, HD failure really sucks... but instead of using CDRW as backup you can use a second HD.
I like DBZ, but I didn't saw the Buu saga yet, the Cell Games just began in Holland... new episod will start in about 5 minutes... going to watch it on TV soon.
Well I saw it to the death of Gohan in the Buu saga and they started it back up from the begining a fiew monts ago ,now it's the Androids saga that will begin next week, last night was the training episodes between the Freeza saga and the Androids saga.We get 2 episodes per night monday to thursday.
My frog asked me for a cigeratte...dunno what happened he's all over the place
Well I hope they continue after the Cell saga's.
They already started over again right before the Cell Games started, it took months to rerun all the episodes before that.
Look at the last episode and you'll se where we're at.
Yesterday where episodes # 108 and 109 .
My frog asked me for a cigarette...dunno what happened his ass all over the place
Well episode 160 was just on TV.
I know what is going to happen in the next episodes but it is still cool to watch, but about the Buu saga... for now it is still very confusing for me to much new names. But I hope Gohan comes back, I really like him.
But tell me what you think of the previous saga (before the Mystic Sayaman saga).
Well I've always been a fan of DragonBall ,I've watch the first series (Goku as a kid)when I was younger and the only thing I found disapointing was the fact that we never saw what happen between the 2 series.
And I do like all the episodes form 1 to ...
My frog asked me for a cigarette...dunno what happened his ass all over the place
Cool, they never broadcasted the DragonBall episodes, but from what I have heard they sound cool. They also never broadcasted DragonBall GT... wonder how that is like.
But I loike DBZ very much, it goes sometimes a little slow but that is ok. Only the end of the Freeza saga was to slow IMO, 5 minutes lasted 5 episodes.
The DragonBall GT story is turning around Gohan,Videl(Hercules's dauther and wife of Gohan),Goten(Gohen little brother),Trunks (Vegita's son).
But I saw only 3 or 4 episodes on the net.
My frog asked me for a cigarette...dunno what happened his ass all over the place
Well I meant that Goku was wished small.
Man I read that page and it only made it even more confusing, I hope they're going to broadcast those series in Holland.
This is my old Downdated, Uneatable & rotten sig.
